what we need

zje is now seeking applications for postdoctoral positions from around the world.research themes include: stem cell and regenerative medicine, immunology, biochemistry and molecular biology, cellular biology, pathogenic microbiology.

qualifications

applicants will be expected to have a phd in biology, medical science, biomedical science, bioinformatics, public health or a related field and show evidence of their research potential.

for more information about projects and mentors:

stem cell and regenerative medicine

hongwei ouyang:

personal page:

research interests: prof. ouyang hongwei focuses on the research of stem cell and regenerative medicine, sports medicine, tissue engineering and biomedical materials.

wenwen huang:

personal page:

research interests: dr. huang’s lab focuses on predictive design, synthesis and functionalization of protein-based biomaterials for regenerative medicine and sustainable bio-electronics. current research projects include: (1) injectable hydrogel and stem cell engineering, (2) stimuli-responsive biomaterial design, and (3) flexible electronics. postdoc positions are available for highly motivated candidates with expertise in synthetic biology, material science and stem cell engineering.

wanlu liu:

personal page:

research interests: 1) understand the epigenetic basis of transposable elements in cell fate descisions. 2) develop machine learning based algorithm to predict cell fate.

biochemistry and molecular biology

sebastian leptihn:

personal page:

research interests: the leptihn group offers two postdoctoral fellowships; one project focusses on the investigation of membrane proteins controlling cellular signalling pathways employing microfluidics and single molecule methods (fluorescence, electrophysiology) together with the university of edinburgh and the zjui (zhejiang university-university of illinois urbana champagne). the second project involves viruses of microbes (bacteriophages) with aspects on both, function and structure of phage proteins, as well as phage therapy. experience in imaging and protein biochemistry or microbiology are desired.

zhi hong:

personal page:

research interests:

1. the regulation of organelle-organelle crosstalk on biogenesis-maturation- location of organelles.

2. the function or contribution of organelle-organelle crosstalk in stress response.

pathogenic microbiology

sue welburn:

personal page:

research interests: sue focuses on interventions for disease control in the global south, with on-going projects in kenya, morocco, mozambique, tanzania, uganda, nigeria, zambia and zanzibar.

david arnot:

personal page:

research interests: malaria parasite genetics, cell biology and field epidemiology as well as continuing to be involved in in malaria vaccine development.

immunology

linrong lu:

personal page:

research interests: the main focus of our lab is to elucidate the molecular pathways and cellular interactions that mediate and regulate thymocyte development and t cell-mediated immune responses by using molecular biology and genetic approaches. we are especially interested in the identification and characterization of novel immune-related molecules and the development and treatment of autoimmune diseases.

cellular biology

wei guo:

personal page:

research interests: dr. wei guo laboratory uses basic biological approaches to understand biomedical challenges and translates its understanding to clinical practice. there are two major research directions: (1) stress response and ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic stem cells; and (2) regulation and targeted inhibition of cancer resistance.

xin xie:

personal page:

research interests: we investigate signaling molecules within adult stem cells (intestinal、muscle and mesenchymal stem cells) regulate their fundamental properties in both physiological and pathological conditions.

research interest: adult stem cell and related disorders

1. intestinal stem cell, colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.

2. mesenchymal stem cell, muscle stem cell, musculoskeletal disorders and metabolic syndrome.

mikael bjorklund:

personal page:

research interests: mikael bjorklund lab works on cancer cell biology, focusing on cell growth and metabolism (dev cell, 2016; embo j, 2018). the main interest in the laboratory is how metabolism, particularly mitochondria, and cell size impact cellular fitness and functions.

ting gang chew:

personal page:

research interests: ting gang's lab couples modern genetics and high-resolution microscopy approaches to study cell division and how its failure leads to genomic instability.

chaochen wang:

personal page:

research interests: dr chaochen wang’s lab focuses on dissecting the molecular mechanisms underlying the cell fate transition during esc differentiation, mammary gland development and tumorigenesis. leveraging crispr-mediated genome and epigenome engineering tools, ngs and bioinformatics, his lab aims for making prominent impact on stem cell study, cancer diagnosis and prognosis in a long run.

kuan yoow chan:

personal page:

research interests: the centrosome is an important signalling and microtubule organizing centre in mammalian cells. centrosomal defects are a common in high grade cancer and have been shown to trigger tumorigenesis in mice. the impact of centrosomal defects in deregulating the cell cycle in cancer is poorly understood. in addition, cancer genome sequencing efforts worldwide show mutations on centrosomal components are common. using genetic, cell biology and biochemical assays, we aim to study how the changes in centrosomal signalling lead to the deregulation of the cell cycle in cancer.

what we offer

the posts will be located at zje institute in haining and the contract of employment will be held with zhejiang university.

salary and benefits

1)salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, compliant with policies for postdoctoral recruitment in zhejiang university.annual pay is in the region of 300,000 rmb.
